If you are looking for a pet that is very easy to take care of, then a leopard gecko is one of the best choices you can make. This is one of the many reasons why people think these reptiles are so wonderful. They are inexpensive and do not require a lot of extra care like other pets night. Before buying or bringing home your Leopard gecko, here is some <a rel="external nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.squidoo.com/how-to-care-for-leopard-gecko” target=”_blank”>basic care information you should really know.

Choosing the Right Home or Enclosure

An aquarium is by far the best choice for your Leo to live. They are relatively cheap and come in many different sizes. Probably the most common choice as a home for your new pet is a 10 gallon aquarium. This is definitely sufficient, but I would recommend that you house your Leo in at least a 20 gallon aquarium. Just doubling the size will do wonders for your pet. They will have more room to run around and exercise, as well as, be less stressed.

Once you have chosen the right enclosure, you need to decorate it. When creating a habitat for your gecko, the more natural, the better! One of the keys to a healthy Leo is creating a stress free environment. Having natural looking decor such as rocks, twigs, branches, etc will create a virtual oasis for them.

Suitable Substrates

If you are wondering what substrate is, it is what is going to cover the bottom of your Leo’s cage. There are many different choices of substrate, however some work better than others. Some examples of acceptable substrates are: kitchen paper towels, unused computer paper, Reptile Carpet, slate or tile. These are all considered solid substrates.

Some gecko owners use loose substrates like sand or coconut husks. It is not recommended to use loose substrates because Leo’s have been known to swallow this loose material which results in severe or deadly stomach problems.

Under Tank Heating Systems

The natural environment for your reptilian friend is an arid, dry environment. the best way to replicate that is to use an Under Tank Heating System or Pad. this is specifically designed to gradually provide the proper warmth for your pet from underneath your pet’s enclosure.

These are the best choice because they can be adjusted accordingly to make sure the temperature is just right. If you do not want to use a UTHS, a simple light bulb will work.

Whats for Dinner?

Insects are your geckos favorite food. They will eat crickets, meal worms, cockroaches, etc. feeding a gecko will be an exciting time! However, just eating insects is a going to be nutritious enough for your Leo. You are going to have to provide some type of nutritional supplement to help keep your gecko well-nourished.

As you can see, there is a little work involved in caring for your Leopard gecko. Did you know that most Leo’s die within the first 30 days in their new environment? If you are curious to know why and want to know what you need to do to save your Leopard gecko, you must visit “10 Secrets to Save Your Leopard Gecko”

Leopard geckos are lucky in that there are relatively few health issues which tend to affect them. However, tail loss is one of these issues. Dropping their tail is a defense mechanism which enables leopard geckos to escape from predators, though it can cause some problems.

A gecko will grow a new tail if they lose theirs, though the tail which they grow back won’t usually look much like the tail they have lost; it tends to be a different shape and is often white rather than its original color. Of course, a gecko doesn’t worry too much about its looks, though you might prefer the way your pet looks with their original tail!

However, the way your pet leopard gecko’s new tail looks isn’t the real problem. The problem is that losing their tail can make your pet less healthy – a gecko which has lost their tail will be stressed and weakened and more susceptible to disease.

If your pet should lose their tail, they’ll need special care to keep them in good health and prevent infection from setting in as their tail grows back. You may want to keep the injured gecko in a different tank (if you currently house your leopard gecko with others). Make sure that the tank is kept very warm; in fact, any time your gecko is sick you should increase the temperature of their tank. They should have plenty of fresh water and food available while they heal as well.

Shedding is another thing which can pose a health hazard to your leopard gecko. Some of these animals have difficulty shedding for a variety of reasons. It may be too cool inside the tank, the humidity level may be too low, they may have a vitamin deficiency (usually it’s more vitamin A that they need) or even be infested with parasites. This is rare, but a leopard gecko with parasites won’t shed. You can check for parasites by looking carefully at their skin, especially between their toes.

If your leopard gecko is unable to shed for too long they can become sick. Rather than letting things get to this point, make sure to properly care for your pet to prevent these problems from occurring in the first place.

What kind of pet you are looking for? Have you ever thought about a gecko? You will find different kind of geckos but there is only one which is perfect as a house pet.

If you have seen pictures of leopard geckos, you are probably aware of what beautiful reptiles they are. Because of the work of breeders, leopard geckos come in an astonishing array of colours and patterns, from tangerine orange all the way to black and white striped, and many of these are quite striking creatures. I have been breeding reptiles for years and years now, and let me tell you: leopard geckos are some of my very favourite. This is not just because of their striking appearance, however. It is because they make such great pets.

Many people complain that reptiles are lousy pets. They feel that snakes and lizards are bad tempered, unaffectionate, dull, and boring company. For many of these creatures, this is true. They are simply not very easy to socialize, and are at best indifferent to humans. But the leopard gecko is different. Leopard geckos, if they are brought up among humans for their whole lives, are friendly, affectionate creatures who are really quite easy to get along with for anyone. They are pretty easy to care for as long as you remember a few basic facts about them. All leopard geckos must receive adequate, but not excessive warmth. Leopard geckos also must be fed daily with insects, and the like, and have enough space to move around. Finally, leopard geckos must not be left all by themselves. They technically can survive by themselves, but as a leopard gecko breeder, I can tell you that they are much happier when they have company. Really, leopard geckos do best when raised in groups of two or more, but even human companionship will help keep your pet happy. And a happy pet is a healthy pet.

If you are thinking of getting leopard geckos, there are a few things that you must consider first. They are not cute in the traditional sense, and so if your idea of a perfect pet is something soft that you can pet at your convenience, then the leopard gecko is right out. Although they are fairly affectionate lizards, if you are looking for some creature that will be overjoyed every single time that you enter the room, ditch the leopard geckos in favour of a nice golden retriever. But, if you are a lizard person, you probably already know it. If your idea of a nice pet is an interesting pet, then leopard geckos might be just the thing for you. I hope you already made your choice; you will never find a friendlier house pet than a gecko.

When you consider a leopard gecko calcium supplement, keep in mind that calcium is the most important mineral and should be available at all times.

Leopard Geckos by instinct will eat it directly to get more calcium, they will lick up extra as they need it. Occasionally you still need to dust feeder insects. Having a calcium dish is not an alternative, you need to provide both options.

The reason calcium is important is prevent nutritional disorders. A popular method is the “shake and bake” method where the feeder insects are put into a plastic bag, some calcium powder is added in, gently shaken until the insects are coated with the fine powder.

Too much D3 can be as bad as not enough D3. Leopards are nocturnal and do not use UVB, they only need D3 supplemented a couple times a month is all. Just do this when dusting their feeders. Vitamin D is needed to help absorb calcium, however to much vitamin D can hinder it. Most of their vitamin D3 will come from the crickets.

Adults and babies will use a shallow dish or a plastic lid in the cage with an added teaspoon of calcium powder. A gecko will instinctively lick the calcium powder from these as needed. Make sure to dust feeder insects every other feeding with a vitamin supplement for young geckos. Adults use vitamin supplement once a week. Use D3 in the dusting process twice per month. Calcium and vitamin supplements are very essential for the health and longevity of captive reptiles. You can find many different products on the market.

Rep Cal calcium and herptivite a highly recommended calcium and vitamin supplement brand is best.

Another leopard gecko calcium brand choice is the Bone Aid product made by T-Rex which is a pure calcium carbonate product.

Calci-sand is NOT digestible like the

manufacturer would have you believe and is very expensive. Lastly, the colored calcium sand just might turn your geckos different colors. It is best to just avoid all calcium- based sands for the health of your gecko.

For a good sand try the tan colored play sand from places like home depot . The cost runs around $3 for 50 lbs. These kinds of sand do a great job.

Just skip light bulbs altogether and use an under tank heater. They do not emit any light, no replacement needed and less of a fire hazard if set up properly. They also do not dry the air out as much.

Do not use crappy heat mats go with the Exo-Terra Desert model.

If you must have a light use a red light. The reason for red light is that they cannot see it; you keep from having a massive temperature drop at night. You would not see much of you gecko with a blaring bright light. Also there are black and blue light that will work however you will not see the gecko at night very well if at all.

Do not measure the temperature in the tank with a thermometer on a wall etc., the temperature on the bottom of the tank that matters where the gecko spends the majority of its time.

Here are some more tips for a properly warmed and happy gecko.

The leopard gecko heating environment should be between 82 to 88 degrees all day and night.

Heat one end of the environment more so that the gecko can move to and from the heat source to regulate its body temperature.

Leave the heating pad on all night. Think about the room temperature also. If you live somewhere where the temperature may vary significantly, make sure not to overheat the cage in the summer or under heat during the winter. Temperatures in most homes can range from about 64 in the winter to 85 in the summer. So turn off one or both of the heating elements during the hottest parts of the summer. (Try using a thermostat and adjust accordingly.)

Geckos are good starter pets that wouldn’t put much of a dent in your pockets, being inexpensive and easy to find. But then again, every Gecko owner should take note of a few Pet Care Tips that would help ensure the health and well-being of this reptile.

Handling Your Geckos

Geckos are quite domesticated with some species, like the Leopard Geckos, largely bred in captivity and are therefore used to subsisting in a terrarium environment. These creatures also have very low-aggression tendencies and are therefore very easy to handle and maintain as pets. You can even grab them by their tails without eliciting a hostile reaction and most Geckos can regenerate their tails in case it falls off.

Housing Your Geckos

Adult Geckos would thrive well on a humid and moist environment. Therefore, the pet’s terrarium should be designed to contain a reasonable amount of moisture and heat to achieve the conditions of its habitat. A 15 to 20 gallon plastic container reasonably filled up with patches of moss, vermiculite and the volcanic glass, perlite at the bottom of the tank should do the trick. There are also tanks made of glass, plastic, metal and wood coated with melamine that can be purchased from pet shops. However, plastic and wood tanks come in highly recommended.

Note that Geckos are climbers and should therefore be provided with an elevated tank as well to provide more vertical crawl space. For its substrates, better choose dry materials such as paper towels, calcium-based sand, a reptile carpet or slate rocks to which captive bred Geckos are quite used to.

Being nocturnal creatures, incandescent bulbs and reptile bulbs should be installed accordingly at the mouth of the tank while sustaining an ideal temperature gradient which would help Geckos and most reptiles regulate their body temperatures to aid in pertinent bodily functions such as digestion.

Feeding Your Geckos

It is important to maintain a steady supply of water and moist in the Gecko’s tank. You can put in a sturdy container for this as these lizards like to drink a lot and would even lap at the droplets of water produced by its moist environment.

Geckos would enjoy a meal of crickets, worms and locusts that would easily fit into their mouth. It is also important to feed your pet with nutritious meal, 2 or 3 times a week. Therefore, its prey-the insects-should be nourished with Gut-load; 12 hours before feeding the same to the Geckos. Moreover, prey should be dusted with calcium supplement which helps in the development of a strong bone structure for your pet.

If you are interested in enhancing your portfolio of products and services, increasing your sales revenue, and you think that server virtualization is the wave of the future, you should consider becoming an Infinitely Virtual Partner.

As a partner with Infinitely Virtual, your company can tap into a whole new revenue stream, just by doing what you do already. With no start-up costs and high margins, any company can begin making money immediately, while larger VARs and hardware resellers can use IV’s services to offer existing customers a unique set of services, as well as attracting new business.

Three Partner Levels

We have three programs designed to fit your organization. If you are looking to enhance your sales portfolio, one of our partner programs is a perfect fit.

IVVAR

You’ve got a list of products and services, a well-oiled billing department, and an experienced technical support staff. You can enhance your service offering by adding Infinitely Virtual’s services to your own as a value-added reseller.

As an independent IVVAR Partner, you’ll offer products and services built on the foundation of the Infinitely Virtual platform. You’ll be able to take advantage of discounted plans and have deep access to our virtualization infrastructure and your customer’s virtual machines in order to serve their unique requirements. In addition, you’ll be able to purchase CPU reservations, RAM, and monthly transfer in bulk, and allocate your selected resources among your customers.

You’ll be able to set your rates and bill your own customers, and we’ll bill you, at a discount, for the products and services you sell. Your company will provide all support to your customers. As an IVVAR Partner, you’ll be required to provide a value-added service or product to our platform.

IVOEM

Your company has the technical know-how and the staff for billing and support, but you’re looking for services to fill out your portfolio. Infinitely Virtual’s OEM partner program allows you to sell and rebrand our services as your own.

The IVOEM partner program is designed for companies that wish to privately label products and services. As an OEM partner, you’ll be entitled to discounted plans, and you’ll have enhanced access to the Infinitely Virtual platform so that you can manage your customer’s virtual machines directly. You’ll also be able to buy CPU reservation, RAM and monthly transfer in bulk so that you can allocate those resources to your best advantage.

As an OEM partner, you’ll set your own rates and bill your customers, and we’ll bill you, at a discount, for the products and services you use. In addition, your company will provide all post-sales technical support.

IV Reseller

Your company is lean and your resources are focused on sales, so you don’t have the time to bill or support additional customers, or an interest in creating your own server farm. Your company is the perfect fit for the Infinitely Virtual Reseller program.

The IV Reseller program is designed for companies that wish to sell Infinitely Virtual products and services under the IV brand. Increase sales immediately, with each transaction resulting in increased monthly revenue. All billing and post-sales support is provided by Infinitely Virtual, so you can do what you do best—make sales. And we just send you a check every month.

Offer Your Customers Great Products

With Infinitely Virtual, you’ll be able to offer your customer products that stand out in the hosting industry, including Privately Hosted Exchange (PHE) with Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and Outlook 2007, Virtual Terminal Server (VTS) with Windows 2003 or Windows 2008 Terminal Server, and Virtual Dedicated Servers (VDS) with either Windows or Linux operating systems. Your customers can take advantage of great options like daily backups, hardware firewalls and built-in antivirus protection.

Give Your Company an Edge with Hardware-based Virtual Servers

As an IV Reseller, you’ll be able to offer a wide array of products without incurring the upfront costs required to build an enterprise data center. You’ll also be able to choose the level at which you want to support your customers after the sale. Your company will have unique access to an innovative, hardware-based virtual infrastructure that allows you or your customers to access virtual machines over the web using our Virtual KVM; the ability to reboot virtual servers; and access to performance charts based on server statistics.

Join the Revolution

As a reseller or partner with Infinitely Virtual, you get a shopping list of benefits: continuous revenue stream, more servers for less money, unique reseller and customer features that help you sell more, and a great partner to help you win new business. And the future will be even brighter: Infinitely Virtual continues to innovate, searching for new ways to consolidate servers, increase server utilization, and reduce costs.

To become an IV Reseller, IVVAR or IVOEM partner, submit an application, or learn more about our unique offering at InfinitelyVirtual.com. If you are interested in enhancing your portfolio of products and services, increasing your sales revenue, and you think that server virtualization is the wave of the future, you should consider becoming an Infinitely Virtual Partner.

Leopard geckos are fascinating reptiles which make excellent pets; however, they do need the same things as any other pet: plenty of love and care. This includes making sure that you provide them with a diet that keeps them happy, healthy members of your family.

In the wild, leopard geckos are insectivorous – their diet consists almost entirely of insects and bugs. You should feed your pet gecko the same sort of diet to keep them in good health. In fact, before you even adopt a leopard gecko as a pet, you need to be certain that you can supply them with the food they need. If your local pet shop deals in reptiles, then they may carry the food your gecko needs. If not, you can also shop for insects to feed your leopard gecko online.

To learn about the foods which you should feed your gecko, continue reading this article – we’ll list some of the best foods (and one treat) for your new pet.

Before we begin, there’s one important rule of thumb about feeding your pet leopard gecko you should know about – you shouldn’t feed your gecko anything which is longer than its body or more than half as wide as its head.

-Crickets: These are relatively easy to come by and inexpensive. Along with mealworms, crickets can form the basis of your leopard gecko’s regular diet. There are many different types of cricket available, but black crickets are usually the best. These insects are slower moving than some other species, so they’re easier for your pet to catch and are also nutritious.

-Mealworms: These are also nutritious food for leopard geckos. Along with crickets, this is one of the best things to feed your pet. It is believed by many experts that geckos who are fed primarily mealworms tend to have longer life spans. The most nutritious mealworms for your leopard gecko and the easiest to digest are newly molted worms.

-Slkworms: These worms are more difficult to come by than are mealworms and are more expensive as well. However, they are a great addition to your leopard gecko’s diet if you can find them – they are a great source of protein and nutrients. Remember not to buy these worms in large quantities however, since they live at most two weeks.

-Locusts: These large insects are great food for a mature gecko, though generally too large for a young gecko to be able to eat safely. These are somewhat expensive insects to buy, but are very rich sources of protein which should be fed to your leopard gecko occasionally if you can find them.

-Wax Worms: These are meant as a treat for your gecko instead as a staple of their diet. These worms are very high in fat and your leopard gecko will love you for feeding these to them, but in order to keep your leopard gecko in good health, don’t feed them more than one or two of these worms per week.

How frequently and how much you feed your pet leopard gecko will vary depending on their age. A mature leopard gecko should be fed between four and ten insects (depending on size) every two or three days. A hatchling or young gecko which is still growing, however will need more frequent meals; four to eight insects or worms daily.

You should feed your gecko its meals all at once instead of spreading them out and try to feed them after dusk whenever possible – this is when a gecko naturally hunts, so feed them when nature intended and you’ll have a happier, healthier pet.

Make sure that you provide your leopard gecko supplement to aid healthy growth and living. As with people and most domesticated animals that do not get a complete variety from a natural diet, supplementation is necessary. Doing the basic when caring for your pet gecko will ensure that it has a long, healthy and disease free life. This is possible when done properly and on a regular basis. Make sure that you understand clearly the complete care that it involved with owning a gecko.

For leopard gecko supplements, calcium is the most important mineral and should be available at all times. The best way to do this is make sure that feeder insects are dusted a few time per week and that a small dish of calcium is in the environment at times. Geckos also require phosphorus/vitamin D3 and a good reptile multivitamin once per week.

For young geckos the best practice is to feed them once a day, coat the feeder insects with calcium supplement at each feeding. This also applies to babies and breeding females. To coat or dust the insects put them in a clear plastic bag and gently shake it until the little bugs are all dusty white.

With general vitamin supplementation make sure to alternate the days and should be used sparingly and not on the same day as the calcium.

You can find good vitamins and supplements at your favorite online pet store or at your local pet store.

Getting and setting up your gecko is an investment and making sure that your gecko is healthy is basic to its care. Make sure that you check with your local pet store to get advice about your specific gecko.

Leopard Geckos in the Wild

Leopard geckos are nocturnal lizards, natively found in the deserts of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and parts of India. They absolutely adore the heat and love rocky terrain, making their dwelling under the ground during the dry, desert daytime. Leopard geckos are quite unique because they have real eyelids – which is extremely uncommon to most gecko species – and they also lack flat, adhesive pads on their toes. Instead, leopard geckos use their claws to climb, making them unable to cling to slippery surfaces – as many other reptiles can – though it is extremely useful when digging in the dry, desert landscape.

In the wild, lizard geckos tend to live under large rocks or inside subterranean caves, emerging at night to hunt insects such as spiders and crickets – and if they’re feeling exceedingly adventuresome, some leopard geckos may even seek out tiny mammals such as baby field mice.

A well-fed gecko can actually live between 19 and 22 years, with the oldest confirmed leopard gecko living all the way to 27 years old! For this reason, they make good pets for children since your child will be able to grow up with the same animal over the course of many years. In the wild, this means that leopard geckos will breed many times during their life, making it an ethical pet choice, as it is not an endangered species.

The natural coloring of these reptiles tends to be a yellowish, creamy color with black stripes, but years of captive breeding have altered the natural coloring of leopard geckos and caused the introduction of new colors to the species, such as: tangerine, lavender, solid white, and even black spots. Though it may seem strange, leopard geckos have adapted remarkably well to captive breeding programs, and are now one of the premier choices for reptilian pets today.
